We start from the centre of Lorenzago di Cadore and, in less than 5 minutes, we enter the woods.
We'll make a quick visit to the striking outdoor Sanctuary dedicated to Saint John Paul II, and then venture into another sanctuary — that of nature — where fir and beech trees will make us feel as though we're in an endless labyrinth, with no patterns and no geometric shapes, other than those created by our own imagination.
We'll push on almost as far as Passo Mauria (1,298 m), where we'll stop near a peat bog. There will be no shortage of views over the Cridola, Antelao and Marmarole ranges. On the way back, the view will instead sweep from the Aiarnola, above Auronzo di Cadore, all the way to the Croda dei Toni.
