Pozzale di Cadore, 1,050 m, is the starting point.
There are several possible routes up, depending on the season. I hope to take you along my favourite path, which, of course, is also the wildest.
During the climb, the view first opens up towards Calalzo and Lorenzago, taking in the Brentoni group; behind us we'll have the Spalti di Toro, Cridola and Montanel. As we climb higher, the view becomes ever more rewarding, until we reach the charming little church of San Dionisio, where the imposing Antelao, 3,264 m, will stand before us.
If we're up for it, if we're not too tired and if everyone agrees, we could even extend the hike a little and stop by Rifugio Antelao to greet the friendly warden and grab something warm... or something cool.
