We start from the former Hotel Cristallo, along the bucolic Valle d'Ansiei.
After a short initial climb, we enter a forest of beech, fir, larch and maple trees. Behind us, Mount Sorapiss is always present, as if watching over us along the way. Walking eastward, we can't help but rest our gaze on the Marmarole group.
The path is never too steep. Even at the height of summer, the forest and the altitude keep the temperature pleasant.
The forest seems as though it will never end, but then, suddenly, an opening appears and at last we see the rifugio, set in a stunning panoramic spot.
